OUR FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY
CONFERENCE
On November 14th 2013 nearly 200 people appeared in the spacious halls of Legia Warszawa football stadium where a special, anniversary conference took place. It was a special event to celebrate 15 years of PIERÓG & Partners.
Our team was happy to welcome friends, reputable guests, clients. We reminisced about the beginnings of the Firm and the beginnings of the public procurement system in Poland. We were grateful to read congratulatory letters sent to us on this occasion by the President of the Public Procurement Office and the President of the Polish Bar Council.
We were especially contented by the presence of Tomasz Czajkowski, former President of the Public Procurement Office. He gave a speech in which he reminded the time when he asked Jerzy Pieróg to join the Public Procurement Office as director of the appeals board. He talked about the difficult beginnings of the Public Procurement Act and the significant role of Jerzy Pieróg in its implementation.
One of the speakers was Jakub Jacyna representing the C.H. Beck Publishing House. He stressed the pioneering and influential role of the public procurement act commentary written by Jerzy Pieróg.
Then we saw an exquisite presentation by the Vice President of Presscom S.A. from Wrocław, the media patron of this conference and company which has for a long time been in cooperation with PIERÓG & Partners.
The next speakers were Jacek Rodak of Drager sp. z o.o. and Zdzisław Dąbczynski of Wimed sp. z o.o., both of which have been our clients for many years.
Congratulatory speech by Barbara Otulak, Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Centre of Poczta Polska S.A. was crowned by a thoughtful gift – a sheet of stamps bearing the image of Jerzy Pieróg.
Wishes and congratulations were also given by Ewa Wiktorowska – President of the National Association of Public Procurement Consultants.
The last speaker was Karolina Jakiewicz, acclaimed painter, whose works are among the contemporary art which Jerzy collects with passion.
PANEL
The second part of the conference was a panel dedicated to two topics: subcontracting and third party potential.
The panelists were: Jacek Sadowy –President of the Public Procurement Office, Lech Witecki –Director of the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways, Dariusz Blocher – President of Budimex S.A. and special public procurement experts: Prof. Andrzej Borowicz of the Łódź University and Ewa Wiktorowska – President of the National Association of Public Procurement Consultants. Jerzy Pieróg presided over the panel discussion.
The panelists expressed their support for the amendments to the Public Procurement Law. The amended regulations make subcontracting and third party potential safer for the procurement process, procurers as well as contractors. The debate then concentrated on further need to perfect public procurement regulations to improve financial safety of contractors, transparency and certainty of the process.
PARTY
We enjoyed our time together and as an exquisite treat we could admire the fine exhibit of paintings by Karolina Jaklewicz.
As gifts all guests received special public procurement publications by Presscom sp. z o.o.and C.H. Beck.
